A Christmas 2021 Litany

This litany is spoken after the final verse of “Do You Hear What I Hear?” with a sung response.

The Annual Homeless Persons Vigil | San Francisco | 2021

To a world still scared and scarred by the wounds of this pandemic,

To a world longing for liberation from the crush of greed, racism, war, and oppression,

To a world fractured, splintered, and desperate for unity,

He will bring us goodness and light.

To a city struggling to see, hear, and care for its most vulnerable and powerless,

To a city searching for the courage and imagination to house its neighbors,

To a city striving to be a more safe, just, and equitable place for all people,

He will bring us goodness and light.

To all who journey as refugees and immigrants toward a new place to call home,

To all who grieve the pain of broken relationships,

To all who feel like they don’t fit in and yearn for acceptance and belonging,

He will bring us goodness and light.

To you, who needs peace to ground your soul,

To you, who needs the warm embrace of joy,

To you, who needs to be reminded that you are loved unconditionally by the God of the universe.

He will bring us goodness and light.
