Storm Clouds of a Troubling God

To anchor our worship series on difficult depictions of God, I created a suspended skyscape of fluffy storm clouds. I selected clouds to connect with the first story in our series, Noah and The Flood, but also because clouds symbolize both calm peacefulness and destructive storminess.

The clouds were made with a core of 3-4 medium & large paper lanterns hung by fishing line. Then, I used spray adhesive to glue handfuls of polyester filling to the lanterns to create the basic cloud shape. I “fluffed” each cloud to get it exactly how I wanted it and then locked it in place with some extra strong hairspray.
